Happy Summerthere! We are more than half way through the year and summertime is in full effect. I absolutely love this time of year. It's when the days are full of sunshine, the smell of backyard BBQs and sweet poolside serenity. Summer is one of my faves and such an excellent opportunity to indulge in self care. Self care is important for everyone, but especially important for doulas and birth workers. It is the absolute foundation of our work. The way that we care for ourselves is truly reflective in the way we support and care for others. We can not truly provide to others what we have not FIRST provided to ourselves. For me, this is my season of softness and I am choosing to indulge in self care by resting in my divine feminine and following what feels good! 2023 has been one heck of rollercoaster ride. So, to replenish and restore my energy, I have been spending lots of time in nature, journaling and maintaining energetic boundaries with social media. This way my cup is full and I can sufficiently support those that I serve. Perhaps one of my most beneficial self care strategies has been disengaging from social media. What started as a "7-day social media detox" quickly led me to realize how these apps can rob us of the gifts of the present. So, I decided to trade the endless scrolling and mindless chatter of social media for more meaningful interactions in the company of real people. Life is so valuable and I realize that don't want to spend mine staring at a screen, observing the facade of a virtual reality when I have so many things in my present, real life to enjoy.
